Question:

This may be a weird question, but does sweat harm babies?

I sweat excessively, like you wouldn't believe. My baby is almost due and I am worried that my sweat might harm his skin. Does anyone know if it is harmful to newborns at all? If not, it's okay because I will ask his pediatrician soon. I tried searching on the internet and couldn't find any information at all. Thanks for any help!

  1. I dont think it will harm him. Hes living IN you now! He should be ok. Congrats!

  2. of course, sweat doesnt harm your baby.. we all sweat.. and even babies do sweat..

  3. No, no harm at all. Babies actually sweat too so their skin is designed to be able to deal with it just like ours.

  4. sweat wont harm your baby. Its normal to sweat alot, i did and still do. I am 15 weeks pregnant.

  5. It won't cause any harm, your baby lived off your blood line for 9 months. He ate what you ate; he drank what you drank .. you're not gonna expose him to any fluids he hasn't already been exposed to! =]

If anything, the moisture in your sweat will be GOOD for his skin =]

  6. I don't think sweat harms babies.

  7. Definitely not!

Nothing that comes from you would affect him in a negative way, since you are the body that he grew into living from. His body is already naturally immune to you in every way.. even if your blood types are different, he will still thrive and flourish..

Did you know that breast milk also carries blood cells and stem cells, and is transfered to your baby when he drinks from you?

If your BLOOD doesn't harm him, then I highly doubt your sweat would -- since sweat is just your bodies way of keeping your temperature down and poses no actual threat to anyone! (Sweat is not a carrier for threatening illnesses like blood is.)

Congrats on your baby! I wish you a beautiful labor <3
