Ok, so I have been a Pescatarian for 10 days. This weekend, I went to visit my aunt and uncle. My family doesn't know that I am a Pescatarian (so many things have been going on) and wh I arrived at my aunt and uncle's house I ceased to tell them that I was one either. So the meals consisted of meat, and when I thought it would be rude to refuse to eat it, and besides, I was really hungry. On the first day I ate a ham (deli meat) sandwich, 1 pizza with pepperoni, and a hamburger. After the ham sandwich, my stomach was messed up and throughout the weekend (as I continued to eat more and more meat) it stayed the same. My stomach even got bigger! I eat a lot, and before I became a Pescatarian I ate a lot and my stomach never got big. I ate meat for 3 days and today is my first day back on track. Is it possible for my body to become immune to not eating meat for only 10 days! And is my body retaliating by increasing the size of my stomach and the discomfort within? What is going on?

  1. Maybe your body is just not use to alot of meat like that, or maybe you just ate too much. I'm not really an expert but it sounds like you ate a little too much. And plus you don't have to feel bad about refusing the food, just tell them. Ask them to cook seafood for you and not other meats.

  2. In short, no. Your body won't adapt to no meat that quickly. You probably were eating too much salty food, or not getting enough fiber, or having too much fat, or something.

Next time, mention ahead of time that you don't want to eat meat. And remember, you can say "no thank you" to the ham sandwiches, too. :-) If you offer to cook a veggie meal, all will be forgiven.

  3. When you cut out non-fishy meats, did you add more veggies to your diet in their place?  If that's the case, you might have gotten used to a diet with more fiber.  When you move toward a healthier diet, your body can adapt to it very quickly.  Suddenly oing back to lots of fatty meat, white flour, and cheese could definitely cause you to feel bloaty and gross.

  4. well, i think that it probably was bad meat, like, it was spoiled or something haha, i dont think a body can become immune to meat in just 10 days, it seems to short, mabye it was just gas, take a pepto-bismol or a "BeNo" and see if it happens again if u ever eat meat again. Most likely it was gas haha.

  5. First, fish is meat so that screws up the rest of the your theory of being "immune to meat"...

Personally, I think you just ate too much too fast (you said you were really hungry) so you ended up with a bad, gassy  tummy..
