  1. Racehorses are young thoroughbreds.  They sometimes have their own opinions on what they want to do.  Sometimes they get very strong and might want to run away if they get spooked or something like that.  Using a lead chain gives you a little more control over the horses.  You can use a plain rope lead, a lead chain under the chin, a lead chain over the nose, or a lead chain in the mouth... each one gives a little more control than the last.  When you see pictures of racehorses, they usually have a chain over their nose or in the mouth, just as a precaution in case they start acting up... then you would give a yank on the chain and it reminds the horse that it needs to behave.

  2. its connected to a lead line.

  3. Some horses are very Headstrong, or stubborn, this just provides extra control to the Handler

  4. Its because the horse its too much of a hot head to be lead like normal. in a horses mouth right above the teeth line is a gland, if you put something (like a chain) on it and hold pressure, its release a happy feeling making the horse calm down and be able to control.

Or sometimes it will deliever the most "pouch" if a horse acts up you can shank (pull on lead) hard and it'll help control them

  5. umm is the chain connected to the bridle? if so the metal thing in their mouth is called the bit
