  1. N-O.

  2. There was a magician a few years back that called himself the masked magician or something similar.  He wore a mask when he did his routine because he did the trick then showed how it was done.  His reason for doing that was two-fold.  He wanted to expose magicians for what they were, entertainers who asked for our suspension of belief to fool you, much as an author does.  His second reason was to push magicians into doing newer and more difficult tricks.  Blaine and Angel   among others responded.  What they do is brilliant but it is magic only because we accept it as magic.  No spirits.  No unworldly powers.  Just plain brilliant illusion.

  3. Maybe they're just praying.

  4. never really heard of that before but anything is possible.  I dont believe that spirits or ghosts can materialize to touch matter.  but tehn again who knows................

  5. I've never heard of such a category, yet i have given it a lot of thought.

i believe it's demons. a pastor told me "try the spirit, by the spirit", meaning no good spirit will do bad. good is good, and bad is bad, no matter how much gray you think there is. i believe there are people who allow themeselves to be perfect vehicles for bad spirit, some unconciously through ritual experimentation or not knowing you're opening windows through other things. anyway it goes, people right it off as meditation, or psyching themselves out, when it's actually letting something take over their vehicle, the body.

  6. Sure, I've heard of them doing it.  Doesn't mean that anything special happened.  They do that to impress the ignorant, who think that explains how their trick worked.

The trick of levitation is almost always done by the support of a single rod that sticks under the person laying down with a T underneath them for support.

When the magician passes a loop over their feet he only pass the front of the loop around the head, so at that step the loop is now around the rod coming in from behind.  He then says, "OK I'll do it again just to prove I've done it.  He then takes the loop that is on the feet side of the rod around the feet to the front of the audience, and caries the loop around the head and holds up the loop.  A simple trick.

  7. Houdini in his day was accused of being an alien, supernatural, in league with demons and many other things in between. However, he did not claim to be anything other than a talented escape artist and magician.

To me David Copperfield looks like an elf but I don't think he actually is one in league with the nature spirits to help him perform his tricks.
