This might sound a little odd, but is paternity leave actually beneficial?

I mean financially?

I have persuaded my partner to use his annual leave instead, afterall what's the point in us both being on low pay? Paternity leave for 2 weeks is paid at £112 per week in the UK.

Did your partner take paternity or use annual leave instead so'd not to take a drop in money?

  1. That depends on the organisation; some will top it up.

But it's about enabling more time for the father to spend with the new child.  So it's less about the money and more about the family.

  2. my partner took 2 weeks paternity and 1 week annual leave but where he works they got 1st week at £240 and the 2nd at £112. i know this dosn't make much difference but paternity/maternity pay went up in april to £117

  3. i used a combination of both but that was only by luck as i had prebooked the holiday and she went 11 days overdue

  4. My husband took 2 weeks annual leave at full pay & then an extra 2 weeks paternity pay.

  5. He saved his holidau, and took 2 weeks paternity and 2 weeks holiday - it was brilliant because he was there to do night feeds and pooey nappies :D

  6. i don,t know.
