  1. It means a person with no sense of humor or very dry humor"; "an ironic remark often conveys an intended meaning obliquely!!

  2. There are a few types of irony. Dramatic irony, seen in plays & literature (especially in the classics - i.e. Shakespeare & Chaucer - not so much in contemporary lit), is when a character says or does one thing that implies something when the audience knows it turns out another way (an example being when Oedipus mocks Teiresias for being blind when in a later act, Oedipus blinds himself by stabbing out his eyes). Situational irony is when one thing is expected to happen and something else happens. For example, a nerd beating up a jock (bad example, I can't come up with irony off the top of my head). And then there is verbal irony, which is the use of words who's figurative meaning contrasts with their literal meaning. I'll give you an example of it, though this may actually be situational irony. One time I had a bad trip on mushrooms where I thought I had **** my pants, and I actually hadn't. Recently, after gaining experience with hallucinogens, I was sitting around with my buddies while on mushrooms and said, "I have to go take a ****, I'll be right back." It's irony.
