Question:

This might sound quite trivial but I really need to know something...?

my mom (overseas) passed away a few weeks ago and my neighbour sent over a platter of home made biscuits and a jar of freshly ground coffee. She said that was the tradition in her village.

Would it be insulting if I returned the platter with something in it, like cake or something? my sister says by doing so I cancel her goodness. Thanks!

  1. If it was some other occasion, you can do that......but now, no.

  2. Not this time.

  3. In this scenario I don't think returning the platter with a cake etc. is the right thing to do. But a nice thank-you letter is sure not to go astray and would make your neighbour feel appreciated.

  4. Just a suggestion.  I dont know if returning the platter with something in it would cancel out her goodness.  But, just to be safe, why not return the platter with a thank you card attached?

  5. I also suggest a platter with a thank you note.

  6. i dont know about insulting but i dont think you should. maybe in a few weeks you could give her something and let her know you appreciated what she did. im not really sure though. im sorry about your mom.
