how can I make sure my cat knows that I care about him?

I always try to show my friends and family how much I love them because I think it's important that they know.

I want to make sure I show my cat too! I buy my him toys, give him treats occasionally, play with him, and pet him as often as I can.

Is there anything else special that you do for your pet(s)?

  1. I'm sure he's getting lots of love anyway, but if you really want him to love you more then just pet him allot and i'm sure he'll love you just as much as you love him :)

  2. give him LOVE

  3. My ginger tom cat Alex knows we care - but hey, he couldn't care less (unless of course it was advantageous to do so).

And then he becomes the biggest suck-up going!

  4. Let them live at my house expense paid. ^_^ LOL!

I also let them play with straws (they LOVE straws)

I never bother buying them toys because they never play with them.

  5. As a cat fancier I feel obligated to respectfully answer your question. I have shared my life with cats for many years now. Currently, I share my home with four male cats ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old. It is my experience that cats do not equate love with material objects like toys. Sure its fun to get the laser toy out for them to chase around playfully getting stimulation and exercise, but love is really shown by the attention and affection given to them. It is imperative to lovingly pet and stroke a cat each and every day as much as possible. If your cat does not mind being picked up, do so cuddling and caressing him close to your heart. For cats that do not tolerate being picked up, it is important to pet them on the ground, the bed, the couch etc... Find all the spots they like rubbed. For example their ears, under their chin, the top of their head, between the eyes etc.. Even if a cat is sleeping gently pet them and speak lovingly in a soft manner to them. A cat that rolls over showing his/her tummy is submitting for you. If when petting a cats chest and tummy they get aggressive simply stop petting them. Rough housing with any cat should be discouraged and a soft loving touch is preferable.

Always speak softly a gently to your cat. Feeding your cat at the same times daily, and keeping a clean sanitary litter box is a sign of love and devotion to your cat. When a new kitten is introduced into the home it is essential to gently handle them as much as possible in order to socialize them. Never hit a cat or treat it roughly. Use a spray bottle as a correctional tool. Each cat responds to a loving touch. I have known many cats who even enjoy a gentle patting as they lie on their side. Each cat is different, but the one thing for sure is that they all respond to a loving touch and secure home with regular meals even if they have a past history of abuse. This question is not silly and it sounds like you love your cat!

  6. dont worry, they know!!! mine hunt, so i get gifts often. mine follow me around, love being on my lap purr at me, greet me when i come home etc. even tho my cat charenator has a human girlfriend, i know he loves me best. i talk to my cats they seem to like it

  7. Everything you are doing sounds great! Just make sure you are taking him to the vet regularly and keeping him healthy. Dont overfeed him though. Just play with him and continue to keep showing your love. OH and keep his litterbox clean! =D

    He loves you.

  8. Do the slow blink.  It's a sign that cats use among each other and my cats and I use it.

A slow blink means that you fully trust them.  In the animal kingdom, if you are willing to close your eyes around them for no good reason, it's a way of showing trust.  (I trust that you won't attack me while I have my eyes closed.)

I started doing the slow blink with my cats at times when they were comfy or cuddling with me.  It has come to mean, All's well.  I love you!  : )

INTERACTIVE play is also very important.  Take time to play games that involve you like wand games or chase the string.

  9. make sure that you cuddle with it and take really good care of it, you could also spend lots of time with it. Treats might also help, and maybe so new toys. Give it nice long rubs in its favorite spot.

  10. Sounds like your doing fine.  If you bought me toys, gave me treats occasionally, played with me, and petted me as often as you could, I'd be in heaven!

    .

  11. I think everything is covered! Just by caring for them they know that you love them. If your cat purrs a lot that means they appreciate what you're doing!
