This might sound silly but, can animals talk to each other?

I have a hamster and an cockatiel in the same room together. I am curious to know if they can talk to each other. Even make contact without using words. Thanks =]

  1. Animals talk to its kind and understand it but I dont think a hamster can understand what's the cockatiel is saying, its like I'm speaking english and you're speaking spanish. Who knows maybe they can use telepathy to talk to each other.

  2. I HIGHLY DOUBT IT UR CRAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYYY

  3. Some animals of the same or similar species share methods of communication, and animals of the same species have a variety of different verbal and physical means to communicate.  But your hamster and your cockatiel won't actually communicate.

I'm sure they're aware of each other, and birds in particular can be pretty observant of noises around them.  A friend of mine had a parakeet that beeped back at the microwave, but it did so because it heard the noise and was imitating it.  The parakeet wasn't trying to "talk" to the microwave.

On the other hand, if you observe a flock of chickens, you can hear all sorts of communication going on.  They even have specific warning calls for danger from hawks that is different from a warning call for danger on the ground from a different predator.

In turn, my chickens have also learned that bluejays - a bird well known for it's screeching warning call if anything enters its territory - can warn them.  If my chickens hear bluejays carrying on in the trees, they run for the barn.

My goats now get alarmed if they hear the chickens carrying on.  So on some days, all it takes is for one bluejay to get irate with a wayward squirrel on its tree to set off total chaos in the barnyard.

You may find that your cockatiel will react in certain ways to the hamster wheel, or certain noises or behaviors from your hamster may trigger a reaction in your bird.  Even though they're not talking, it can be fun to watch how pets react (and interact, to a certain degree) with each other.  Sit back and observe and enjoy it!

  4. I think animals of the same species can communicate with each other, but what would a hamster and a cockatiel have to talk about? No, I don't think they communicate.

  5. Of course they can! I was on Youtube and looked up talking animals and found one of a parrot talking to a dog!

  6. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN TALK BUT THEY HAVE HUMAN EMOTIONS AND MONKEYS CONTACT WITH HUMANS TODAY SO MAYBE THEY CAN TALK

  7. LOL!!! Im pretty sure that they can! There are lots of dogs on my street and unfortunately they bark all day. It sounds like they are having an argument of some sort. LOL!
