This morning I discovered one carpenter ant in my window, could this be a sign that more will come?

  2. It's possible.  I'm not sure if just one is indicative of anything, but if you start seeing more, you have a problem.

    Carpenter ants feed on wood - usually damp wood.  (I had them at my cottage.  It was like a scene from the Amityville Horror.)

    If you start seeing more, I'd definitely call an exterminator.

  3. Well I would certainly inspect the window and your house at night (they are most active around 9pm-4am) to see if you see any more of them.

    It could have been just a Foraging ant from outside - so unless you see evidence of other ants I would not be too worried yet.

    If you start seeing many inside your house however - they are attracted to damp wood - so the big question is what water problem do you have that attracted them to your house.

    I would not call an exterminator until I found the water problem.
