  1. swollen tonsils? you had a sore throat. when you sleep with your mouth open, you're breathing deeply for a long period of time. the wind hits your throat repeatedly which results in a sore throat. it wares away throughout the day. i get it all the time (:

  2. probably sinus drainage during the night...especially if you snored or slept with your mouth open prolly made it worse

  3. Tonsilitis. It will come and go, if and until it gets chronic enough for removal.

  4. snoring

  5. I get that sometimes in the mornings. Its nothing to worry about. I usually find that it helps when you have a drink. sometimes it goes away fast but other times it takes a bit longer to disapear

  6. strep throat

  7. I've had something similar I think (I don't know exactly where the tonsils are). What I'm referring to usually happens when I'm in a really relaxed/deep sleep like if I go to bed after drinking a lot. I would wake up and my throat would feel kind of swollen (probably because I would breathe through my mouth all night and snore as well) but that would go away after a few hours or so. I'd usually just wake up, get some water and go back to sleep then wake up a little while later fine.

So you could try turning down the fan a bit (if you use one) or just keep a bottle of water by your bed.

  8. Has the air filter been changed in your house lately?  If you're sleeping below the vent, you could be inhaling dust throughout the night which will irritate your throat.
