  1. I also have a 12 gauge 1967 1100 with a skeet barrel. I shot it so much in skeet competitions  that it finally wore out about two years ago. Up until then the gun had never malfunctioned once. Back in 1967 through 1971 I used to shoot about 400 skeet targets a week. I took it to the Remington factory in Ilion New York and they rebuilt it. It is now part 1100 and part 1187 and some other model but it works like new again.

  2. I've never had an 1100 but I do own an 870 Express. Most reliable shotgun I've had so far. Never has had any problems and shoots like a charm. I haven't shot it in years but I can guarantee you that I could take it out today and it will work every time. I also own a Winchester 97. That's my baby!

  3. There is a reason they are so highly regarded.  I have been good to my 1187, and it has been good to me.  Glad to hear you've had such a positive experience, and happy (safe!) hunting!

  4. I see Remington 11's all the time that are still viable. thats the grandad to your 1100. That 1100 is a pup at 41.

My bird gun is a Winchester M 12 built in 1919. I still shoot a 1897 Winchester built in 1913.

Guns last forever with a little TLC.

  5. Yes I have a Remington Model 721 in 30-06 caliber that was one of the first ones manufactured  in the year 1948.* I also have a 22 caliber Sportsmaster Model 341 one of the first ones manufactured in 1936.* I also have a 20 gauge Remington model 1100 one of the first ones manufactured in 1969.. I would not trade or sell any of them.*~

  6. I have a Remington 700 ADL .25-06 that I purchased new in 1974.  It is the best deer rifle I own.  It still works great without anything other than having swivels installed for the sling and the 3x9 scope installed back in '74.  This year it'll get a new scope as the old is starting to lose it's brightness.  It's an old Tasco.  I'll probably go with Leupold or Zeiss this time.

  7. I don't have a Remington shotgun, but I do have a 700 that's just a bit older and still as accurate as any rifle I have.

Among my shotguns, I have a Hunter Arms Elsie that's seen a good deal of use through five generations of my family and is more than ready for the sixth.
