  1. The minimum hiring requirements for any US major airline are generally low.  For example: ATP, 4-year degree, maybe 1000 hours as a captain.  Meeting those is not the hard part; everybody meets those.  The only requirement that matters is that you know the right person who can get someone at the airline to look at your resume out of the stack of 10,000 applicants who look exactly like you on paper.

    As for my training, 4 year degree in electrical engineering, typical civilian flight training route.  Various US airlines.


  2. It's between 5 and 15 years of training including acquiring the certifications and ratings and collecting about 2,000 hours of flight time.

    All the major airlines have about the same hiring requirements:  a 4-year college degree, the ATP certificate, first class medical, and around 2,000 hours total time.
