What are the effects of going from 75mg/day of Seroquel to 0mg/day in one day?

I have a patient that is taking 75mg/day and I want him to stop IMMEDIATELY.

What are the physiological repurcussion of this action?

  1. My guess is that your patient will start to get his/her symptoms back.

  2. You have a patient?

If you're a physician, um, wouldn't you know?

  3. First my wife is a Dr. Of Pharmacy, and I know she would tell you to call the Pharmacy at the hospital and talk to the pharmacist who does drug interactions  or just a clinical pharmacist and ask them. I really don't think you are a physician because they would always use this way to get medicines right for there patients, they would never consult the answers on yahoo for such a important thing. and if you are physician you need you head examined.

  4. There is no way in h**l that you are a doctor. Either that, or you're in some b.s. field like podiatry or psychiatry.

Seroquel will have significant physiologic effects on an immediate withdrawal; you need to taper the dosage downward. Otherwise, you're risking a GABA flood, and keep in mind that there are important cardiotonic effects of GABA.

The only way you can safely pull your patient off of Seroquel at once is to replace it with a long-acting benzodiazepine.

  5. I take serequel....I wouldn't be able to sleep without it !!!

I was taking Zanax and when I stopped I had a really bad seizure.  I lost memory and couldn't talk for a few days !!
