  1. make sure that you are completely square under the ball. this usually helps me when im playing.

  2. our coach always told us "were all super-women so put ur hands in a triangle and bend ur wrists back and be sure to bend ur elbows and push out" if you need to tape your 1st nuckles u should thats what i did when i started JH volleyball got used to not being able to move em and i dont anymore

  3. I've seen this happen to many players and it's frustrating when it happens and it can be difficult to break the habit.

Here is a drill that I recommend to players I've coached and instructed:

Hold the volleyball as if you are forming the letter "O" with both of your thumbs and pointer fingers. The other 3 fingers on each hand should be spread out.  The "O" formed should allow the ball to lightly rest there.  Keep the "O" opened to a point just enough so the ball won't fall through your fingers.  Practicing a soft set in place, a little bit above your head, normally eye level, allows you to see where the ball is impacting your hands.  Adjust yourself accordingly, whether it is dropping an elbow slightly or maybe a bend in the knee.

Take about 50 sets at a time...remember..they are soft sets.  Then, continue to do this as a drill as often as you can or until it improves!

Best of luck on the court!

  4. are you making sure your only using the 6 fingered triangle? i kind of bend my other fingers toward the inside of my hand idk y but wen i do this my fingers kind of project out a little bit more and then i spring my fingers so that it goes up and doesn't make a slapping noise i don't know if that helped but i hope it does

  5. It is because you are being casual while playing try practicing with the wall ,catch the ball n throw it on the wall and so on practice every day, this will get you on track n every time you play make an attempt to hold the ball in the fingers n release it quickly.sometimes this may happen as an effect that the left hand is dominating the right thus u need more effort from the right hand also .

  6. Try tilting your wrists back more and pointing your thumbs to the ground.  Your hand position should be in the shape of the ball about 5-6 inches above your forehead.  Make sure your hands are both the same distance from the ground and not tilted.  When contacting, move your hands in one direction only.

Here is a site that may be able to help you:

  7. Try putting you hands together and opening them up so you can see a triangle. When you do that, then pull you thumbs back a little then try to set, and try not to set one and see if ot hits you on the forehead then you are doing good. Hope that helps.

  8. just make sure to touch the first couple fingers on each hand to the ball.

    SETTERS ROCK
