How do you feel about your kid making videos and uploading them on to Youtube? This includes skits, polls, Vlogging, etc.

I'm not a parent, but I see lots of kids make videos and put them on Youtube so I'm just wondering.

  1. I can not speak for anyone else, but our almost 11 year old daughter does not go onto Youtube. Our children are much more limited in their access to media than most families, I guess. They are only allowed 1 hour of TV per day and it is usually PBS kids or Discovery Channel- something like that. As for computer, none of them have email addresses, they are not allowed in chat rooms, and they have 1/2 hour of computer time on any websites we have approved for them.

  2. as long as it isn't inappropriate

  3. As long as they are supervised by responsible adults I have nor problem.

  4. Its good for other kids but not for my children!

My 12 year old daughter is not allowed on Youtube.

    She goes on kidzbop.

But she never really made a video.

She goes on stardoll.com that is aperfectly great site for girls and even boys.

Its not a video site but its great for girls and boys ages: 8-17.

Its a website that you dressup celebrities such as Hillary Duff, Miley Cyrus..etc

  5. With supervision, to ensure that the videos don't contain anything inappropriate and that there is no inappropriate disclosures or dialogue happening in comments, then I would say it's okay from about age 13.

  6. I do not allow my 14 year old to download anything on utube. She is also not allowed to chat, skit, poll, vlog or im.

If she wants to talk to someone, she calls them on the phone. I watch her computer use like a hawk and I refuse to give in to pressure from anyone. I have seen first hand how this technology is used to harass, abuse and hurt. I will not allow it to happen to my daughter at this age.

  7. I think it is ok, as long as the child is of a good age for it.  My daughter would have to be at least 16 and I would have to approve before it gets published on the world wide web.  I would also have access to her passwords.

  8. I'm fine with it. The youtube account is a family account and my 13 year old has been living with a camera in his hand for about a year now. My other kids (younger than him) make appearances in his short films and I'm fine with that. They're all very creative and I see it as just another outlet. :)

  9. I dont have the internet in my home.  On too many occasions, I have found my children, despite a good home environment and a solid upbringing, cannot handle this privledge.

So, for me, YouTube is out

  10. I'm perfectly Okay with that, as long as they realize that some other pre-teens and teenagers will likely leave a negative response at times just to be hateful- such is the internet world.

As long as it does not contain any personal info- they can sing, dance, act etc in a video for youtube.

My children do leave the house - so thousands of strangers see them every week anyway. Not like looking at my kid will get my child killed.

  11. I don't allow my kids to use internet a lot. I blocked youtube.

    Some videos are ok

    then others are wrong
