  1. Sweetie, the Military is full of stress, hard conditions and work loads like no other.  I would never call that fun.  Support peace, not war.  Go to the code pink website and check them out.  Peace to you.

  2. Being a fighter pilot is an amazing goal to reach for.  I commend you for have that goal and trying to prepare yourself to reach that goal.  I am currently in the Air Force.  We do travel a lot and there are times where there is a lot of work, stress, and time away from families.  However, I absolutely love being in the Air Force.  I have previously worked, as a civilian, in Public Safety, factories, food service and retail.  I would not go back to any of those.  The Air Force is like a second family.  We have a lot of fun.  We work hard and we play hard.

As far as what do I like best....hmmmm...I like the camaraderie that every member of the air force has with each other.  I have not found another profession where that bond between co-workers is so strong.  We truly are like a family with each other.

  3. I was in the Royal Air Force 9 years and in the Royal Australian Air Force 28 years I was In Explosives Ordnance Fighter squadrons Bomber squadrons  Maintenance squadrons Served in Germany for 2.5 years lived in England Scotland Wales Lived in Singapore Malaysia and Borneo Did two tours of duty in Penang/Butterworth Malaysia last trip wes On 3 Sqn Mirages  was an instructor at wagga x2 and my final years was inspector of explosives No 1 and visited every RAAF base in my last 2 years

also Visited Gan Island Colombo Bombay Aden Kuwait Bahrain New York Haiti Christmas Island all payed for by the Military and i have been out 12 Years on Compulsory age retirement 55 and i miss it Like you would not believe

The thing to remember if you choose Fighter Pilot there is a mandatory return of service and any further Courses has the same there opportunities for exchanges with our Allies there Specialist courses in UK and USA plus the money is reasonable boosted by flying pay and opportunities for Further education

At the beginning it is hard work with basic training flight school then the actual flying prop trainers jet trainers then the ultimate F18 F!!! Orions

    and of course C130 C17

the main thing for me was Security i Joined 3 month before my 17 birthday and thrown out when i reached 55 ( compulsory retirement age )

and Eric T and Horton say the rest  i really miss the Mate-ship

  4. I was active duty Air Force for 8 years, and have been a reservist for 10 years.  I regret ever getting off active duty.  Eric T is right.  There's a feeling of family, of belonging, that I love about military life.  I've had many many temporary duty trips where I've had to travel alone and it's so nice that even in a group of total strangers, you're instantly among friends.  Anywhere you go, you're family.

Travel also.  Being stationed overseas, the opportunities for sightseeing, and weekend getaways are unbelievable.  Combine that with a challenging career and a supportive environment, and it's just great.
