  1. I am a licensed paralegal in Ontario Canada. As the years go by I think I am still sympathetic to my clients, many of whom are individuals.

The challenge is as you get busier you have less time to deal with the client one on one. You can not always take theirs calls, or respondnd to emails, or mail as fast as you used to.

Routine enquiries are directly to my assistantnt whenever possible.

It is a challenge admittedly but, but I try to put myself in my client's shoes. This business like any other is about customer service

  2. I don't know how paralegals feel about this, but I will give you my take as a very recent law school graduate not yet licensed to practice.

The process starts when you are in law school, when relatives and friends ask you for free legal advice that you cannot legally give, because you are not a licensed attorney. It also does not help that they have no willingness to understand the law and simply want you to tell them what they want to hear, even though it is completely legally unsound. The icing on the cake is when they tell you that people like you are the reason that the law doesn't make sense and the country is going to h**l.

I do believe you can be a lawyer and still be sympathetic and caring, to a point. But it is difficult when you believe that the law is fair and the person you are talking to believes it is unfair only because they're on the wrong end (often because they have done something they shouldn't have done).
