So here is my question that Does your mom say to you same like this? Do you know why is this all for? What do you think what is the main motive behind this? Do you hate this? OR Do you accept it casualy? & Haven't you ever fell that this is wrong & I should talk about this with my mom?

  1. it is uscientific

  2. I have never been told this, but I know that this exists in the Bible.  It says I think in Exodus that women who are on their period (I'm putting this into today's language, I don't think any of us would understand the King James version) cannot come near the temple of God or anyplace that is sacred to God.  In the Bible, women who are on their periods are "unclean" and so if they approach or touch anything that is sacred to God they will make it unclean, which is punishable by death.  So that may be where your mom is coming from.

I think your Mom is taking the Bible way too literally.  You might want to ask a pastor (or a female leader in a church) to talk to you and your mom privately about this.  Those words were written for people who lived before Jesus died on the cross, and so they had a completely different set of rules than we have today.

  3. omg my mom tells me the same thing too!!!! she wont let me go to the mandir becuase were dirty and were sapousse to be clean!!! idk you know how we have those strict religon i guess we just follow that we have noo excuses! lol

  4. i have never been told that.

  5. I go to church on my period all the time. If you want to worship god you have a right to...

  6. its a hindu's tradition rather its our Indian tradition, how can u go to temples or holy places with all that fuss, its only a resting period (4 days) in olden days , but now all are changed, but some traditional things are behind like as before, if u are not willing to follow, better u allow ur children to allow them in all the places in all the times.....

but its good to follow our Indian culture, which is very much pure and divine.......

  7. hey i think u r from Andhara pradesh or from south India

this questions i heard from my friendzs i asked my mom about this

she said : in the older times they use cloths ..... those women or girls have to do more work . As in  their period they need more rest ,so they told not to do any work .

Going to temples .. means if using cloths means it smells very bad and unheigenic , so they said not to go to temples as they will be lot of people garthering in the olden times

  8. hey u shouldnt have mentioned only 4 gals coz when u do so guys will surely luk at urs 1st anyways ur matter is simple ur mom is to much religious and due 2 d generation gap u r not able accept wht she is saying

  9. Hello,

Well my mum says exactly the same thing! So I guess you and me are in the same boat =) My mum says that before four days of period we are not allowed to enter the temple or even touch or go near a murti of God- she says that the reason behind this is because we are unpure. I definitely think it's stupid and I think that it's weird because God has created us and having period means life, right? But anyway I still follow the rules- but not that strictly.

Before four days I don't really go to the temple, however I still pray at home and whatnot. I go to the temple after four days of my period. I'm not sure what the main motive is but I follow some of the things- and some things I don't agree with.

Anyway, if you ever have a family religious ceremony or function or something and you have your period I guess that's ok- think about it, it means you don't have to go! =P By the way, if there's a wedding that you have to go to you can go when you're on. Just thought I'd add that in. =) hope that clears up most questions for you.

  10. well i've heard other strong hindu moms say this to their children, but my mom never has since she's pretty sane. don't listen to your mom, she's being old fashioned, most woman in india especially the newer generations don't believe in this, and you shouldn't either. nothing is going to happen to you if you touch a statue of God during your period. try to explain that to her, if she doesn't agree thats ok. theres nothing she can do anyway if you go to the temple during your period, nothing at all will happen. im sure your old enough, and times have changed it's not like how it was in the 1960's so don't fall for it. hope i helped =)

  11. No.  She hasn't ever told me anything like that.  Having your period isn't anything against any God at all and you shouldn't have to avoid anything to do with God just because you're menstruating.  Your mother seems to be delusional about religion in general.... I wouldn't take her too seriously to be honest.

  12. Its just that you are impure during periods... so you cant go to a sacred place or touch any sacred thing for atleast 3days... after 3 days take a bath n purify yourself n then you can go to sacred places and even touch sacred things...

  13. sorry for intrusion in girl's world.

I have a very good knowledge of hinduism, so I want to answer this question.

in the time of periods.women are not considered as clean.

and you know that going to holy places and touching idols of gods , you should be clean.

that's why you mother  say this to you.

may you don't like this, because we belong the 21st century generation. It is somewhat strange to me also.

but, this tradition is going for thousands of years now and you can't change it.

for more information, do you know, in many families, women don't enter

the kitchen in days of period?

  14. yes.My granny wont even allow me inside her house when i go during ths time.

But my ma wont do such.

but will say me nt to *** near god.

She will tell me to take rest and to eat healthy.

but in my granny's home, she will hav a seperate plate, tumbler, bedsheet, room, etc.,for we people when we go that time. When serving food also, there will be a very long distance between plate and the spoon in which the food is served(vertical distance)

  15. it depends, my mother never believe in these things, so she doest teach or tell me about these things....she only says...god is in yourself, in your beliefs....it doesnt matter, if you are having periods or not...or just think about the people who do Chaliya...for 40 days they go to gurudwara....they go and worship...so its all about your thinking...i always go mandir, even if i am having periods, so if your consious allows..then you can go...decision is yours.

  16. I dont have any answer for you, i am aboy, and you made me more curious by writng THIS QUESTION IS ONLY FOR GIRLS, HAHAHA

  17. your mom is a syco

  18. YOUR MOM'S ON CRACK!

  19. I bet guys are going to come to see this question...even if it says "only for girls" haha

1.) No my mom doesn't say this. My family isn't too religious.

2.) It seems a little ridiculous no offense! Periods are one of the things that make women/females different from men! It was given to us from God (in some religions, depending on your beliefs)

    3.) Sorry, I don't know.

    4.) I don't hate it

    5.) I guess?

6.) Yes you should talk to her. Ask her WHY??

    xox- Julie

  20. i think you are from indian family.i am also form indian pandit family.it is understood for my family's womens.WE CAN'T ENTER IN THE KITCHEN,WE CAN,T TOUCH THE MAN,WE CAN,T GO ANY MARRIAGE FUNCTIONS AND WE CAN,T USE EVEN BATHROOM TOO.I HATE THIS ALL.PLEASE DON,T ACCEPT THIS KIND OF SUPERSTITIOUS THING.IT'S WRONG.I ALSO DON'T CARE ABOUT IT.

  21. what the heck are you talking about?

  22. Hi,

    It is the custom baby.............

Usually during periods time,we wont go to temple.....

  23. no....but i just noticed that she usually prefers for me not to go to a mandir or anything.....except that's kinda hard in my house

i can understand why you're mom might say that though. i think you should respect her not wanting you to near god and just deal with it for 4 days.

but if it really bugs you then you should sit down and talk to her...understand why she doesn't want you to go near a mandir or murti

    hope this helps!

    *dancing*babe*

  24. yeah mine does

we also close the curtain to our home mandir

this is because the gods are pure and being on your period makes them impure

just accept it i have and no its not wrong i just accept it

  25. The period is such a natural thing that I believe it is very much okay to enter any religious place at all when you have it. My mother has never brought religious beliefs into natural bodily functions, but I wonder whether you might be able to ask your mother about why she feels this way and what you want to do about it? To be honest, the way you worded it is confusing, so I am not sure if I'm getting the full impact of the issue at hand. For now, all I can suggest is that you question her about it, and that, if possible, you discuss your feelings with her. Good luck!

  26. ok to some ppl above.............its an indian religious thing to not go near god i dont know y either but its true and our religion

  27. Yes, I have heard that. My mom has told me that before and so has my aunt.  But, my mom doesn't really care. I don't know why they say that, but if your mom believes it, you should respect it to an extent.  And, you should find out why she believes in it.  Because knowing the why might lead you to believe into it properly.  However, if after you know the reason, you think its silly, you shouldn't believe it.  But, it would be ur choice in the end to respect ur mom's idea.  Plus, if you are still young like 13-17 you should listen to your mom.

    Troublemaker :)

  28. Uh...no...I'm Christian and so is my mom, but its like....wow

Listen, having your period isn;t "evil" and it isn't "unclean".  Its a natural form of life.  God designed it himself.  It's to keep you to have children.

Your mom seriously needs to read the Good Book, cuz I've read it, and there is NOWHERE where God says that periods are unclean.

    Sheesh.

  29. I am a male but that does not stop me from answering ur question.

Females in those 4 days and males who hv not taken bath after s*x are not PURE bodily to do any religious Puja /Yadyna etc and should NOT enter any temples or holy places.......Reason , they carry negative aura with them which destroys peace of the holy place or shrine !

If you dont believe , get yourself photographed before / during/after your menses . Aura photography is available now adays easily

  30. gal jus don't make it an issue infront of so many strangers, its ur choice, follow it/4gt abt even obeying ur mom.btw d u like ur mom to b called crack, unscientific, overreligious,if yes then i hav nthng more 2 say,u cant change ur mom better accept her as she is & hav some respect 4 ur religion, don't make it a joke infront of scientific ppl!

  31. hey ma mom too tells me tht...n even though she did not tell me the reason i found it out myself...the reason is tht wen we r bleedin dead eggs *** out...so u noe in hinduism...wen a person dies we dont go near gods or touch murtis thtz y as we r carryin dead stuff we shudn't go near murtis...hope u understand...
