  1. My husband and I are on our 2nd round of P90X.  You do NOT need to buy beachbody's equipment and supplements.  They're over priced and from what the mat looks like, it's not cushioned enough for some of the exercises (you will be rolling on the floor so you want a good soft yoga mat).

We bought a pull up bar tower from Sports Authority for $70.  You can buy any pull up bar from any sports store for cheaper and it will do the same thing.  Also, the recovery drink and bars can be substituted.  We get 100% whey protein from Bulk Nutrition (website for body building).  It's cheaper in bulk and it mixes the best of any protein we've tried.  The bars we use Power Bar (23g Protein ones, I forget the kind).  They come in a box with 6 peanut butter and 6 vanilla from Sam's Club.  You could probably order those online if you have a membership.  The recovery drink took a little more research.  Essentially, my husband did a lot of research from body builders and body building sites and compared ingredients and amounts to that of the P90X recovery drink.  So we purchased (again from Bulk Nutrition) Creatine, Carbo Gain, and another sugar (can't remember what it is).  All I know is my husband mixes about 1 1/3 scoop protein powder + 1/4 cup carbo gain + 2 1/2 Tbsp sugar product (the one I can't remember the name) + 1/2 tsp Salt + 1 Tbsp Creatine + about 32oz water.  I wish I could remember the name of the other product, but look around some body building sites for a recovery drink recipe.  They should also tell you how to calculate how much of each item you need in your recovery drink for optimal results.  For instance, my recovery drink only has 1/4 tsp creatine since I'm not looking to bulk up.

I hope this helps!  Best of luck.
