1 Power Acoustik OV1-3000D amplifier

Stats of subs are:

2 ohm, dual voice coil, 600 RMS watts each, 1200W max

Combined total of: 1200RMS in a ported box.

Stats of amp are:

RMS Power Rating:

4 ohms: 900 watts x 1 chan.

2 ohms: 1300 watts x 1 chan.

1 ohm: 1700 watts x 1 chan

A little over the RMS to be sure I get the most out of the subs.

Here is what I need:

2 or 4 gauge wiring, what do you recommend? and If you have a wiring kit that fits my needs please tell me.

Do i need a capacitor?

Do i need a crossover?

Thanks for helping

    Good luck.

  2. I have a power acoustik OV1-4000D gothic series amp. Very good cheap brand actually! But it is overrated in its power. I'm not sure what the actual power is. I have them hooked up to two blaupunkt vw1200 subwoofers and have them at half gain so I can actually hear the music.

I use a 4 gauge wiring. So I'm sure a 4 gauge kit is good.

I would get a capacitor only if your alternator can handle most of the load. It's only good for some power replacement, not all, so don't rely on it as a suitable way to power your amp if its just too much for your alternator in the first place. So instead of a capacitor maybe you should look into replacing the big 3?

  3. although 4 gauge would do it, i would have to suggest smaller so that the wire doesnt go bad fast, and incase you want to upgrade. go with as low as you can afford.

capacitor would always be good to have, it makes the load less on your alternator, and will be a good investment in the long run. just dont skimp out on a capacitor if you buy one. i would reccomend 100-250 dollars spend here atleast. depending on your budget.
