i have a chest drawer set made of wood and INSIDEthe drawers smell awful like wood and some other gross smell . I can't even put my clothes in them bcuz they end up absorbing the woody smell and it smells nasty. What can i do to get rid of that annoying smell from inside the new set of drawer chest???.....do moth balls work???

Dryer sheets don't work or air frwshner sticks, neither parfume or room sprays.

  1. not moth balls! remove your drawers and set them outside for a day or two. watch for rain!

  2. Try charcoal. Not the quick start kind as it has kerosene in it.

Leave the charcoal in the closed drawer for a least one week.

You say it is new, have you talked to the retailer about the smell?

  3. Arm & hammer baking soda.....cut the top off of the box leave it in a cpl of days. Although the charcoal idea is intriguing.

  4. if nothing else works, you might have to paint the inside of the drawers to keep the smell sealed away from the clothes.

  5. it depends the age of the chest and where it was kept , sometimes humidity will cause wood to smell , or the long use of moth balls , keep it open to air the drawers out for a few days in the mean time buy some lavender and make sachet , the dollar store sells little organza bags with a draw string , fill them up and put one in every drawer ,not only your clothes will smell nice but moth s will not come inside them either , line the drawers with paper lining , you can buy that scented as well but it wont stay scented for long this is why I told you to use lavender.
