years ago in my old house I used to hear a whooshing sound some of the time, it was like someone spinning a hollow plastic tube around. sometimes it was loud and other times it was quiet. What could it have been?

  1. It could be the wind. Or some natural occurences.

If you or somebody can't find out what it is it could be a demonic spirit. Ghosts don't exist but demons do exist. You can pray before you go to bed and you can ask a pastor for some advice about the situation. Good luck and don't worry or be afraid!!!

Perhaps this article can give you an idea about what is going on:

  2. It must be a ghost.Probably someone who died a violent Hula Hoop related death

  3. Why does it matter?

  4. hmmm.......a gost.....or the cat in the hat

  5. could be wind...

  6. Honestly, it sounds like a bird or a frog or some sound that was carried in some way to what sounded like right next to you. I always try to be skeptical first and then go to my paranormal beliefs.

  7. If your thinking it's not just a house noise,,if u know what I mean, I know this noise.

I live in an old home, seen all kinds of ghost here, but the oddest one of all was the one I didn't see.

I knew it was there 150% but couldn't see a thing.

I looked up at the corner in my computer room( where I am typing now,,lol)

feeling a presence, unknown to anything I have ever felt, then in an instant..

whoooooooooooosh. I heard it with my ears, but I also felt it go from the corner to standing next to me in an instant.

then I felt it behind me reading what I had just wrote on the computer.. that sounds crazy..lol

I told it, if he wants the computer he can have it, I am going to bed..LOL.  hek, I knew he was there, why pretend???

  8. Just your Mind making up things

  9. I came across an article in Popular Mechanics about 35 years ago that talked about the fancy chimneys that some people used to put into houses. They also said that they attributed most of the haunting noises to these chimneys.

Lo and behold the 13 room Victorian I grew up in had a spiral chimney all the way to the roof (very, very expensive) even a hundred years prior when the house was built.

    Thanks for the memories..

  10. That could be any number of things in a house, given the amount of detail you've provided. I remember I heard this whooshing sound too in my house, but only in the master bedroom and only at night.... on dark, windy nights (I guess most nights are dark!).  Turns out it was the roof turbine vent making the sound, and I only noticed it when things were quiet enough and I wasn't distracted with other things.

  11. Your Imagination

  12. It's too late to tell now.  It could have been anything from the wind to a false memory.

  13. I would say the wind.

  14. I call them house noises

A home inspector could probably explain it, if it is of an explainable nature.

I am a realtor and walk around old houses by myself all the time. You would not believe how noisy they are.

  15. I'm glad I don't believe in the supernatural because on windy nights my bedroom window make a most ungodly howling sound. Jeez I would be wetting myself if I had a rampant imagination.
