This sounds dumb, but what is the difference between LP and SLP when recording to VHS tapes??

I'm guessing SLP means longer recording time, true?????

  1. It has to do with the speed of the tape... SLP if i rem correctly is faster and you get a better picture but you loose tape space for future recordings.  LP is what you use if you want to record a bunch of shows and dont care about the quality.

    SP- Standard Play, standard record time and quality

    LP Guessing Long Play? Double record time half the quality

    SLP Guessing Super Long Play? Triple record time 3rd the quality

  3. LP is long play, slp is super long play, you get more recording time but lose some quality

  4. There are three modes for recording on VHS tapes.

    SP= Standard Play, you can record up to two hours of video.

    LP=  Long Play, you can record up to four hours of video.

    SLP= Super Long Play, you can record up to six hours of video.

  5. You are correct.

    If you use LP for just say..a 2 hour movie, it will take up your whole 6 hour tape.

    If you use SLP, it will only use the 2 hours..and you'll still have 4 hours left on your tape.
