I said it about my friend once and everyone was like oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh

Disabled people used to be called cripples because of their inability to use some of their limbs fully or move under their own &#039;steam&#039;. Then they were called &#039;paraplegics&#039;. Now they are euphemistically referred to as the &#039;functionally challenged&#039;.

When referring to a person, being crippled means that he/she is disabled in some way. It could also mean the physical structure of the body is altered or amputated because of surgery. Sorry, but it is quite rude to call someone crippled.

&quot;Crippled&quot; means damaged and not functional, usually by some reason not the fault of the person so affected. It can be an insult to call someone crippled as a criticism especially because crippled people are so by reason of forces outside their control; they can do nothing about it, so you impute blame to helplessness.

crippled basically means broken, like you can&#039;t use it. if you say it about a person you basically saying they&#039;re broken and can&#039;t do things properly.
