This time last year, what were your team going to do ?

Personally, I would have been happy with Walter making progress to build on the gains of the latter half of the previous season, whicjh included 2 victories over Celtic, without conceding a goal.. And obviously putting up a good challenge for the league, following the Le Guen debacle. As it happened, Rangers reached 3 finals, won 2, and took the league to the very last match, and held the lead at the top of the legue for most of the season into the bargain. I will not mention the fixture insanity at the end. So significant progress made there, then.

On the other hand, if I were a Celtic fan, I would have looking for the treble, and the last 8 or even the last 4 in Europe. Rational being, they romped the league the previous 2 years, spent a lot of money and made a mark in Europe. In reality, they were knocked out of both domestic cups, were embarrassed in Europe, (twice), by Barcelona, thereby failing to get by the 'last 16', and won the league by one match, helped without a doubt by the insane fixture list Rangers faced, although I am not going to mention that.

Hardly progress, more a stagnation. Never mind, though. Peter 'integrity' Lawell has loads in the bank. And Strachan is a 'god'.

12 months on, there are shouts about 4,5,6,7,8.....in a row, based on what ?

Paddy McCourt, Goofy the Greek and Loovens.

They exceeded my expectations in what we achieved.

(It's too early to give a long answer,not fully awake yet for work lol)

i am a spurs fan and they were going to break into top 4 last season but they dissapointed hugely and the manager was sacked and one of the most respected manager in world football was brought in , in the form of juande ramos and spurs are thrice as strong as we were last season now and this made me realize how wide off the mark we were saying last seasons team will break into top 4. But we did thrash arsenal 5-1 in the semis and outplayed chelsea in the final to win the league cup.

I dont want to say anything about top 4 this season but i am quietly confident.

Well, you are not a Celtic fan, so we don't really care about you're slanted biased opinions.

4,5,6,7,8, is based on the fact we have 3 already, literally the next one is 4 the next one is 5 etc, I'm not saying we are going to to that, but we are in a position to.

I always expect us to play good attacking football, but have come to realise that more often than not, we play dire lacking in ideas football. On this basis I have no great expectations, I want us to win everything we enter, but am happy enough with winning the league, I wouldn't say no to a cup (or both), but they are of no great importance to me.

We are not capable of winning the Champions League, we are objectively probably a last 16 team in that competion, we are not a last 8 or last 4 team.

Getting knocked out from Artmedia or Kaunas, thats embarrassing, not being put out 4-2 by Barcelona, idiot.

I will agree with you that we are stagnating a bit, I personally see no great improvement or change at Celtic and we are still playing the same awful way as last year, but it is proving good enough to win the league and get to the last 16 of the Champions League, so essentially I'm happy.

How exactly have you moved forward, I think you're in a worse position than you were last year. You are out of all European competitions, not playing particularly well, in a poor financial position, have lost your best player, lost the league, lost the Cup you really wanted to win. Your only consolation was the 2 cups, did that really make last season a success for you, it's better than nowt, but hardly something to cheer about.

for me rangers did better than expected..gutted to lose the league the way we did..and hopefully the bad start to this season is over and we ger our arses in gear and get the title this season and back into europe next..:-)

Don't think there was too many fans embarrassed by Barcalona (I know I wasn't). As for the treble I didn't even consider it, I wanted the league which we got, and either cup would be a bonus but thats all a a bonus, if we win the league I ain't too bothered about the cups, as the league is what matters most. As for the last 8 or even lat 4, no Celtic fan in their right mind seriously thought we could do it this year.

being totally honest as always..thought we were screwed and would end up with nothing last year...however the lads rallied, and played exceptionally well and we did the dream.

may I add aided by lennon's arrival...the signing of Robson and the two old firm defeats were the turnaround of Celtic.
