Me and my partner are flying to dublin this thursday for the weekend. We know that pubs will be closed for good friday, and we have visited the guinness storehouse a couple of times. Does anyone know of any other fun things we can do? Will the Jameson Distillery be open on friday? we aren't really into museums or art gallerys etc. many thanks.

  1. Hiya, well depending on what you're into, you could try theatre or the cinema. There are also loads of pubs that have trad music at the weekend.

I suggest you have a look at the following for more info on what's on where:

    www.entertainment.ie

    Hope you have a blast.

  2. There's always the tour buses that offer great round the clock service. The best thing is that you can get off at any locationa and be picked up whenever you're ready to leave, they have a sort of circuit busline that goes round and round. I loved it when i went. They also do haunted tours. Or you could just always walk down Grafton Street or O'connell street and enjoy the scenery. Say hello to the tart w/ the cart for me :)

  3. go on the liffey boat/duck. It's a truck that turns into a boat and leaves from St Patricks Cathedral, on Clanbrassil street, not far from Christchurch. It goes down onto the liffey. They make you wear viking helmets. Anytime I see it , everyone looks like they are having a laugh, idiotic but laughing..

    the website is

    http://www.vikingsplash.ie

Dublin zoo is a good day out too, if you are interested in it.

  4. A lot of places will be closed for part of Good Friday.

I doubt the Distillery will be open.

Without you saying what you ARE into it's hard to advise you.

You could take a bus or train trip out to some of the villages along the coast - Skerries, Howth, Malahide, Dalkey, Killiney etc.

Or go to somewhere like Glendalough.

  5. There is Horse racing at Leopardstown on Saturday which is always good for a craic as well as Greyhound racing at Shelbourne both within easy reach of Dublin Centre.

Good Friday is the one day that most businesses, including the Tourist attractions are closed, so I doubt that Jamesons will be open.
