This woman asking for my details!!!?

Today when i was shopping this woman came up to me and said Hi would you be interested in getting a free clothes catalogue, I thought I would be nice and went along with it, she had this little machine and i gave her my address, tel, date of birth, name and signature. But then I walked away and was like err why did I bother doing that i don’t even want the catalogue!!

yea, that probably wasn't a very good idea. you don't even know if she was really selling catalogs or not. did she give you anything in return? like a card or anything? if so call her up and tell her you don't want it anymore. if you notice anything suspicious going on with your credit card or you never get the catalog then call the police.

These people trawl the streets of most big towns & cities and are always trying to get people to sign up for a catalogue such as Littlewoods Mail Order.

If you don't want them sent to you and if you are asked again simply tell them that you are not interested and walk away.

Undoubtedly you will shortly receive a catalogue from whoever was touting for customers.

If so, and if you do not want to order. simply put the catalogue into the re-cycling and ignore them.

I expect they will write to you again asking you to order. If they do either ignore the letter(s) or write back saying you do not wish to become a customer or agent for them.

The reason they wanted so many details is probably to do a credit check on you before sending out the catalogue.

I assume you did not giver her your credit card details and that she never asked for them. If she did, she had no right to and I would smell a rat and report what had happened to the Police.

Also contact your credit card company and seek their advice. They will probably immediately put a stop on your card and issue a new one.

To do a credit check the company only needs your name, address and date of birth.

Neither the person who took your details or the catalogue company can check your bank account as you have not given them any details of your account. All a credit company can do is to see how you are running your finances, paying your credit card off, paying other bills, etc and checking for County Court Judgements (CCJs) against you (if you have any of course). All these can affect your credit rating.

it has happened to everyone! but be careful! if someone on the road stops you to sell "a famous expensive perfume for only ***dollars/euro" don't stop!! once a friend of mine did and the guy sprayed the thing on her face and then robbed her!!

you were just nice, the only thing that will happen might be that they will call you all the time on the phone!
