  1. you should have said 'no thanks'!! can the catalogue be any good if they have to flog it on street corners????

  2. You gave your address, tel, date of birth, name, email and an example of your signature to a complete stranger on the street???  Why on earth does she need your signature to send you a catalogue???

Did she show you any ID or did you ask for any?

You have certainly given her enough info to set up a bank /credit card account in your name.  You might be lucky and she might be genuine. But, next time just walk on by....better to err on the side of caution.

  3. Oh Dear! Just shows how willing we can be to give ersonal information when you've got your mind on something else. It might be a good idea to get one of those free credit reference checks a bit later to make sure she wasn't doing an ID theft.

  4. you were entranced by her smile and friendly banter. Never mind you will recieve a catalogue ,some times they send a bag to return it if you don't want it. If you keep it you don't have to order from it though.

  5. They'll use the details you provide to verify who you are & check your credit history, they'll also decide what credit limit to allow you.  They don't need your bank details, or your credit card details - if you order stuff from a catalogue they invoice you later for anything you keep & you can just pay in cash or by card at the post office or wherever you usually pay your bills.  If they have an online facility you could set up an account online & pay using a credit or debit card.

  6. Be wary of giving that information it enough for someone to take out credit in your name or even empty your bank account.

I would warn the bank not to allow ' card not present emergency transactions' because of this as a matter of URGENCY!

NEVER give personal information esp (mother maiden name) to anyone except respected institutions.

Many fraudsters use this now posing as charity collectors/market research or Sales people in the street.

Inside shopping centres is safer as only licenced chuggers are permitted by security but in the street it could be the white colar equivalent of a mugger!!

  7. It's ok, i doubt you have anything finaincialy binding, you will prob jus receive a catalogue/letters and emails. Bit of a pain but after a while the company give up!

I hate those people that stop you whilst you're shopping. I signed up to axa healthcare before and went home and i was like ?!?!? What have i just done! lol

  8. dont worry about. they use your details for market research, you will probs get loads of junk mail thru post now!

  9. No but you still gave her plenty to go on to start putting together a fake identity!

    Be more careful in future

  10. There's lots of these people around trying to get you to sign up to these catalogues etc., and if you get a good one, they are reasonably priced and you get stuff delivered to your door, you get to return it if you need to, and you get a bill every 28days ion the form of a statement and you pay an amount of the balance. Some charge you interest on your account, and others do not., If you get one that doesn't (grattan is a good one) you can get commission ion your payments and everything. They are very reasonably priced and the ones like grattan etc are all interest free terms too. And you can pay up to three years too. (but that has an  interest charge attached to it)

I'm grattan customer, have been for years. I recently got collared by JD Williams, and they charge interest on theirs so I paid it in full all in one go and closed.

Don't worry about the woman. She has a job to do. You aren't obligated to order anything out of the catalogue when you get it. But I bet if you looked thru it you would find stuff you liked.. so ddon'tbe in too much of a hurry to abandon the idea ... not before you've given it a fair run for its money!!

I wouldn't be without mine now,,, prices are far too expensive for me to shop on the High Street
