Thomas Avetand secures Men’s 200m IM gold – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet
Thomas Avetand of France secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on last day of the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion, on Sunday, December 30.
The French swimmer lived up to the expectations of his supporters by dominating the playoff of the 200m discipline.
With his unrelenting efforts, Avetand faced no trouble from his challengers and cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 04.90 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ambroise Petit of France, who stayed 0.76 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 05.66 seconds.
Third position of the race was secured by Florent Hassambay of France, who stayed more than two body lengths slower from him and tapped the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 2 minutes 08.37 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Alann Bobe of France, who was almost three body lengths apart and surfaced on the wall for fourth position by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 11.03 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Mathieu Marquet, who remained 0.28 seconds away from his closest competitor and settled on the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 11.31 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Mathieu Bachmann of France, who was 3.12 seconds behind and made his way to the finishing end by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.43 seconds.
Bachmann was chased by Guillaume-Alexi Raymond of France, who stayed nearly four seconds behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.77 seconds.
Last spot of the race was secured by Yanis Bouhaski, who was 1.21 seconds slower and hit the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.98 seconds for eighth place.
In addition, the arena appreciated gruelling efforts while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable effort at the prize ceremony of the session.
