Thomas Chippendale wins the Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Soar Maiden Stakes (Division 1) with Tom Queally onboard
The jockey ride team of Tom Queally and Thomas Chippendale made their mark on 11th October by winning the Leicester, British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Soar Maiden Stakes (Division 1). It is a Class Four for two-year-old juveniles.
Sir Henry Cecil trained Thomas Chippendale kept a reasonable pace at the beginning of the race and did not speed up instantly. For the next two furlongs he did make some advancement on the track. When he was on towards the final furlong, he got whipped by
Tom Queally to shift towards the railing. Achieving that, he led the lot till finishing the race.
Queally said: "He could make up into a lovely type next year. He was babyish and needed the run at York, but he is improving all the time. His stride took me into the race and he won in the style of a nice horse. Whatever he does this year is a bonus and
he is one to look forward to”.
With Graham Gibbons onboard Ed McMahon trained Went The Day Well, the two qualified as runner-ups for the event.
The horse started off with the leadership skills and then went onto ride out on the rest of the lot to keep clear for the upcoming furlongs. He headed near finish and crossed the wire after Thomas Chippendale.
The third to win the race was Mahmood Al Zarooni’s Zameen being ridden by Richard Hughes. Andrew Balding’s Mysterious Man was fourth, Mark Johnston’s Key Gold was positioned fifth followed by Hallmark Star, Rogue Reporter, Villa Royale, Storm King, Jericho
and Emperors Waltz.
Deirdre Johnston, wife and assistant to the in-form Middleham handler, said: "He's lovely. He started at five furlongs and now he's up to seven. I think he'll get further. He seems to go on anything. He's very versatile”.
The two-year-old, out of Dansili and All My Loving, has raced just twice this season.
First on 19th August was the York race in which Thomas Chippendale came tenth and then on 11th October he won the maiden at Leicester. At both occasions he was ridden by Tom Queally.
His performance at the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Soar Maiden Stakes (Division 1) has made the connections anxious about the future opportunities coming Thomas Chippendale’s way.
