Thomas Cooper and Sharli Brady conquer swimming events – High School State Championships, Kentucky
Thomas Cooper of TRN and Sharli Brady of COP served notice of their talent by conquering gold medals of the Boys 100yard freestyle and Girls 500yard freestyle, respectively on final day of the Kentucky High School State Championships for Boys and Girls in
Louisville on February 26.
The 10-year-old Cooper upset his challengers by submitting a phenomenal time of 45.09 seconds for gold medal. He was trailed by Aaron Sexton of BAL, who stayed 1.80 seconds away from his former finisher and clinched silver medal of the event by producing
a time of 46.89 seconds.
The 11-year-old Sexton remained almost one second ahead of Garrett Stephens of STX, who seized third finest spot of the event with an effort of 47.71 seconds.
In the meantime, the audience experienced fascinating effort of the 10-year-old Brady in 500yard discipline. Brady remained untouchable throughout the distant freestyle event and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 47.56 seconds.
With her exceptional efforts in the 500yard discipline, Brady remained nearly 2.50 seconds ahead of her subsequent swimmer, Leah Stevens of SHA, who surfaced on the finishing wall for silver medal by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 50.00 seconds.
The third position of the event was earned by Ellie Grimes of DM, who stayed nearly seven seconds slower from her foregoing competitor, and completed her race with an effort of 4 minutes and 57.89 seconds.
Moments later, the arena noticed an incredible swim of Max Williamson in the Boys 500yard freestyle event. The 11-year-old Williamson smothered struggles of his challengers and ended his race in a time of 4 minutes and 28.89 seconds for gold medal.
He was chased by Jake Schultz of BAL, who stayed almost one body length behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 30.73 seconds for silver medal. Robert Leasure remained 1.15 seconds behind his former finisher and reported 4 minutes and 31.88 seconds for
bronze medal.
Furthermore, the championship concluded after the completion of all listed events whereas the winners were awarded medals and accolades for their wonderful efforts at prize ceremony of the championship.
