China’s Chen Long showed his class and made his huge home crowd happy when he punished his lower ranked talented opponent Shon Wan Ho in the final encounter of Thomas Cup Finals 2012 at Wuhan, China, on Sunday, May 27.
The in-form Long, who has been impressive throughout the tournament, continued his tremendous run in the final contest as well and overpowered Wan Ho in Men’s Singles battle in a convincing fashion.
The World Number 3 Long was all fired up while playing against the India Open champion Wan Ho and wrapped up victory in a phenomenal manner by consuming 52 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Wan Ho was just unable to cope up with the speed and attacking play of his rival and easily bowed down to his higher ranked impressive Chinese in straight games with a comprehensive difference on the score board.
The higher ranked Long started his journey in the final contest in a thrilling way as he did not let his rival to find a good rhythm and took no time in taking a remarkable lead on the board.
In the meanwhile, Wan Ho failed to match the speed of Long and also failed to execute his shots in targeted areas.
Long remained ahead of Wan Ho on the score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Chinese hero continued his staggering performance without facing any interruption in the court and grabbed the first game with a startling 21-9 score on the board.
In the second game, Wan Ho played slightly better badminton in the opening points and matched the speed of his rival until 8-8 when Long took over the control again and reached at 11-9 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the local shuttler continued playing to his maximum speed without showing any mercy to the Korean.
He did not lose his focus in the ending phase of second game and easily won it by a smashing margin of 21-13.
Long stamped his superiority over Wan Ho in 52 minutes by a sensational 21-9 and 21-13 score on the board.
