Chinese ace Lin Dan firmly established his supremacy in the badminton world as he toppled Korea’s Lee Hyun Il in the final contest of Thomas Cup Finals 2012 on Sunday, May 27, at Wuhan, China.
The World’s best ever shuttler Lin, who has all major international titles in his possession, continued his unparallel winning run and added another feather in his cap by winning his Men’s Singles fight against Lee Hyun in an emphatic fashion.
Lin, who is World Number Two in Men’s Singles world placements, was on a different level while playing against his old nemesis Lee Hyun and registered a 13th victory over him in their 16 head-to-head meetings.
The Chinese made the arena elated while playing to his maximum potential and cheered more than 25,000 fans who witnessed their hero live putting up his best in the court.
The in-form Lin showed his brilliance in the court and defeated his Korean rival in straight games while taking 54 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Lee Hyun could not put up strong show against his Chinese rival and lost to him in two games without showing a strong character.
In the first game, both shuttlers found a thrilling start as they played at their maximum speed and remained equal on the board until 5-5 when Lin geared up his speed and took a good lead of 11-8 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Chinese continued putting up his best in the court and did not let his Korean opponent to take charge of rallies.
Lin was fully focused in the game and managed to bag the opening set with a superb 21-14 score on the board.
In the following set, Lin stunned his rival while playing extremely attacking badminton and took an amazing lead of 11-4 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Lee Hyun showed glimpses of his brilliance by playing with precision and surprised everyone by levelling the score at 17-17.
However, the huge home support helped Lin to raise his level of play at this crucial stage and he managed to win the set with a decent score of 21-17.
Lin won this entertaining fight against Lee Hyun in straight games with a comprehensive 21-14 and 21-17 score on the board.
