Thomas Cup Finals: Lee Yong Dae – Kim Sa Rang topple Joachim Fischer Nielsen – Jonas Rasmussen
Korea’s mega star Lee Yong Dae proved that he is the best in business when he with his new partner Kim Sa Rang put up staggering show and outplayed Denmark’s experienced shuttlers Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Jonas Rasmussen in Men’s Doubles encounter at
Thomas Cup Finals 2012 in China, on Friday, May 25.
The newly former Korean pair proved their mettle while playing against the Danish opponents and emerged as the winners after delivering a gutsy performance for 73 minutes.
In the absence of his regular partner Jung Jae Sung, the impressive Yong Dae did disappoint his fans as he displayed a phenomenal performance with the inexperienced Sa Rang and registered an inspiring win over Danish shuttlers.
On the other hand, the Danish duo won the opening set with a stunning margin but failed to live up to expectations in the following set and lost to the Koreans in three games.
After winning the battle, Sa Rang said, “There was so much pressure on me and I was so nervous but Yong-dae kept encouraging me despite the demoralising defeat in the first game. I followed his lead and this was the key to our success.”
While Yong Dae commented, “We went in with South Korea leading 2-1 but we felt the pressure. It showed in our first game but we did not give up and we continued fighting, showing more fire and enthusiasm to take South Korea into the final.”
In the first game, Yong Dae and Sa Rang started in a quivering manner as they remained struggling in their coordination with each other and eventually lost the opening set with a huge margin of 11-21.
However, Yong Dae and Sa Rang put up strong show in the second game when they troubled their Danish rivals and managed to win the set with a 21-19 score on the board.
In the final set, the impressive Yong Dae and Sa Rang continued putting up thrilling show of quality badminton and wrapped up deciding game with a sensational margin of 21-15.
The Koreans won this gruelling three-set contest with a breath-taking score of 11-21, 21-19 and 21-15.
