Thomas Cup Finals: Lin Dan tames Rajiv Ouseph in Men’s Singles clash between China and England
China’s top shuttler Lin Dan showed a strong character in front of his home crowd when he tamed England’s Rajiv Ouseph in the Men’s Singles clash at the Thomas Cup Finals 2012 on Sunday, May 20, in England.
The Chinese shuttlers thrashed English opponents in this team-event match in Group A with a one-sided 5-0 margin on the board.
The ruling World Champion Lin, who is currently number two in Men’s Singles world rankings, put up remarkable show of top quality badminton and easily overpowered his lower ranked English rival.
The Chinese mega star put up tremendous show and ended up the fight in straight games by taking just 36 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Ouseph showed a few glimpses of his brilliance in the opening half of first game but failed to cope up with the speed and stamina of his higher ranked Chinese opponent and bowed down easily without taking any set.
In the first game, Lin started his run in a dominating and positive manner and remained in complete control while keeping the pace of rallies quite fast.
However, the lower ranked English opponent also managed to lift up his level of play and managed to take a slight lead of 10-7.
However, the Chinese geared up his speed and took over the control from his rival by reaching at 11-10 until the one-minute break.
After the break, the home favourite continued his positive and aggressive play without showing any mercy to his English challenger and wrapped up the game with a one-sided score of 21-14.
In the second game, Lin was on a different level showing no respect to his rival and managed to set up an incredible lead of 11-5 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Chinese shuttler continued punishing Ouseph by keeping the pace of rallies at the maximum level and eventually finished off the second game with a tremendous 21-10 score on the board.
The World Number Two Lin consumed just 36 minutes in the court to overpower his opponent with a stunning margin of 21-14 and 21-10.
