Thomas Cup Finals: Mathias Boe, Carsten Mogensen all set to yield the best against Malaysia
Men’s Doubles experts Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark are in high spirits to fetch the best result against Malaysia in group match of Thomas Cup Finals on May 22, 2012.
World Number three pair will represent the country in first Doubles encounter and they are scheduled to meet the duo of Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong who stand at eighth spot in world rankings.
The Malaysian pair has been struggling to revive their old form and the Danish shuttler Carsten Mogensen looked positive to relish this opportunity.
Though, he admitted that the match can go in anybody’s favour but still he vowed to put extra effort and secure the honour by winning crucial point for their team.
Mogensen said, “Koo-Tan are extremely good but they are struggling right now and we plan to take advantage of that again. It will be a 50-50 match but we are confident of pulling through.”
Last time when both pairs faced each other was in Super Series Masters Finals where the Danes completely outclassed their challengers by registering a marvellous straight-set triumph.
Now their meeting in Thomas Cup Finals is going to be an interesting contest as the Malaysian pair Koo-Tan will be looking for an avenging victory to regain their confidence while Boe-Mogensen will strive hard to provide a breakthrough.
The 31-year-old member of the duo, Mathias Boe admitted that Doubles ties will play vital role as they may suffer in Singles department where opposing team has the services of prime shuttlers like Lee Chong Wei and Hafiz Hashim.
However, he hoped that they will escort their country to glory by making a joint effort with other Doubles campaigners Jonas Rasmussen and Mads Conrad Petersen.
Boe said, “Both our doubles stand a chance of winning and that can make a difference for us. This time we are a more closely –knitted team.”
The second Doubles team of Denmark Rasmussen-Petersen will be up against lower ranked but spirited Malaysian opponents Lim Khim Wah and Goh V Shem.
Moreover, Mathias Boe vowed to exhibit their premium skills in London Olympics as they do not have any plans of retirement in the near future.
