“Three weeks ago I would never have dared to dream that I would be in this position and that I would even reach the end of a grand tour.
“But now I know that a pretty good rider lurks within me. I know now that I don't have to be scared of the steep mountains”.
The 25-year-old started his professional pursuit with Team Unibet-Davo in 2006 and penned a deal with Team Davo for 2007-08 seasons.
He also represented Team Topsport Vlaanderen-Mercator in 2009-10 seasons before finally accepting an offer from Team Vacansoleil-DCM in 2011.
