Thomas Dulorme, Jonathan Gonzalez remain undefeated – Boxing news
Thomas Dulorme, welterweight, and Jonathan Gonzalez, junior middleweight, emerged victorious on Friday night at ShoBox: The New Generation. The event was televised live on SHOWTIME.
Dulorme was featured in the main event against Aris Ambriz. Dulorme, who comes from Carolina, Puerto Rico, grabbed the NABF (North American Boxing Federation) welterweight championship by beating Aris Ambriz, who comes from Azusa of California, by a 2:12
victory.
In the other bout, Gonzalez, coming from San Juan, Puerto Rico, grabbed a unanimous 10-round victory over Billy Lyell of Ohio at Chumash Casino Resort. Gonzalez started solidly and impressed the viewers by his stunning shots. No wonder his opponent Billy
Lyell seemed stunned throughout the fight.
Similarly, Dulorme stunned Ambriz as well by knocking him twice. The first knockdown came through a left hook by Dulorme and the second one came just minutes later through a right hand shot. Even though the first knockout was solid enough, the second one
had more impact on Ambriz, leaving him flat on the canvas.
Dulorme, in a post-fight appearance, said, “I was prepared physically and mentally to go 10 rounds and I didn’t come in looking for a knockout, so for it to end in the first round was a present for me.”
He further said, “I’ll be back in the gym on Monday trying to learn more. That’s what I do best. Every time I step in the gym it’s all about learning.”
On the other hand, Gonzalez, the other victorious fighter, remarked on his victory, “I’m happy with the result and the way this fight went. I expected a hard fight and I trained for a tough guy who had fought a lot of good punchers who couldn’t knock him
out. We knew he was a worthy opponent.”
He further said that Lyell is a tough fighter but he made a clear statement by defeating him and that throughout the fight he felt that he was in control. He further said that he himself allowed a couple of shots from his opponent just to see what he had
to offer but he was disappointed to see that all his shots were useless.
