Thomas Dulorme to defend win streak against Ivan Hernandez in a non-title bout – Boxing News
Thomas Dulorme, the current NABA USA and NABF welterweight champion, will defend his undefeated streak against Colombian proud Ivan Hernandez, the former WBO Latino lightweight champion, in a non-title bout to be held on August 31, 2012.
The ring for the showdown will be set up at Guillermo Angulo Coliseum situated in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The fight card is being promoted by Javier Bustillo, President Universal promotions, and above duo will headline the pay-per-view.
The night will also witness Jose Pedraza in the non-title co-main event against an opponent still to be decided. The fight card is still under consideration and more bouts and opponents will be added in the upcoming days.
Thomas and Javier participated in the press conference called on specifically for the announcement of the August 31 pay-per-view. Dulorme, 22, is a surging Puerto Rican proud who has been in a total of 15 bouts and remains undefeated.
The young lad has nailed 12 of his opponents by knockout and proudly tops his country’s divisional rankings. In the last four-five bouts, Thomas has evolved into a pretty lethal knockout pugilist and has started to somewhat threaten the ace brawlers in the
division.
During the media interaction, Thomas shared his excitement on becoming part of a pay-per-view being held in his hometown. Also known as ‘Thomas Cordero’, Dulorme stated, “Without a doubt this is one of the great things to ever happen to me in boxing. Since
I was a boy I’ve always wanted to fight in the town that saw me develop. This is a dream come true, I’m very grateful to Bustillo and the honourable mayor of Carolina for this opportunity.”
When asked as to what are his thoughts about the heavily experienced Ivan, Dulorme remarked, “I’ve seen him before, he’s a great fighter. During my training I’ve been very conscious of that so I can be victorious in front of my people of Carolina.”
Ivan, 32, has been in a total of 32 bouts. The Colombian veteran has nailed 23 of his opponents by knockout and is making a comeback after almost a year. With 29 wins in his resume, Hernandez poses a serious threat to Thomas’ flawless win streak.
Dulorme needs to take full advantage of the possible ring rust that might hamper Ivan from performing well in the early rounds. If Thomas is able to capitalise the scenario, an early swift knockout win for the young Puerto Rican over yet another experienced
pugilist is inevitable.
