  1. roy jone jr.. has a weak chin

    def. hearns

  2. depends on if RJJ had the same mind set right now instead of the one he had in his prime.

  3. Good question sir.  I look at some of the people that both men fought and Hearns fought the tougher competition.  Some of the guys that Jones Jr lost to, I don't believe that Hearns would have lost to.  Hearns was a very good boxer and much more of a complete fighter than many realize.  He closed the eye of Sugar Ray Leonard with his great jab and would look to do the same to Jones Jr.  Jones Jr during his prime had some of the fastest reflexes I've ever seen in a fighter with extremely fast hands.  I also don't believe that Hearns would fall to the tricks that Jones Jr often used on outclassed opponents particularly when he dropped his hands.  I believe that there would be some exciting moments throughout this fight with Hearns landing the harder punches and Jones Jr responding with lightning quick flurries of his own.  I believe that Hearns would hurt but not knock down Jones Jr late in the fight and send him on his bicycle trying to survive.  I'm taking Hearns here by split decision in a very fast paced and entertaining bout.

  4. hearns all the way

  5. Tommy Hearns was celebrated as a great puncher, so we often forget that he was a very skilled boxer.  He was long, lanky and quick.  Roy Jones was known as a great boxer, but he could also punch.  He was also long, lanky and quick.

A good boxer will usually beat a good puncher.  In this case, both fighters were true boxers-punchers.  Jones may have been a slightly better boxer, but  Hearns was definitely the better puncher.

    Hearns by a knockout.

My thinking is that Jones could not stay away from Hearns for the whole fight and, in protecting his chin, he could not use his boxing skills to dominate a boxer with Hearns' own boxing skills.  So, Jones might have an edge in the "boxing" area, but Hearns would have a big edge in the punching department.  Tommy was a great puncher and a great finisher, and Jones' chin was not meant to withstand Hearns-type power.

  6. The Hitman, would crush Jone's due to the long reach of Tommy

  7. IMO, Thomas Hearns was great against Duran, Cuevas, sized fighters and almost proved the same against Leonard, but IMO, his legs abandoned him and in a sense he was top heavy. Roy Jones was faster and could outmove and set-up most anyone. Jones by late round TKO, or decision. Hearns was IMO never a pound for pound type fighter.

  8. Jones, KO 10 rounds.  Roy had too many weapons, and was always smart enough to compensate for a long reach.  Hearns was a great fighter, but Roy was too much at middleweight for the HitMan.

  9. Hearns would hammer jones with his famous right hand, jones chin is glass and if he touched it with tht right he would be out definately, hearns 6 round KO.
