Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl bag Mixed Doubles title at German Open GP Gold 2012
Denmark’s talented players Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Rytter Juhl nail their first title of current year by winning the Mixed Doubles crown at German Open Grand Prix Gold 2012.
In the title match, Laybourn and Juhl showed wonderful performance and thrashed Lee Yong Dae and Ha Jung Eun of Korea on Sunday, March 4, in Germany.
The World Number Eight Laybourn and Juhl put up stunning show and won the battle against their higher ranked opponents Yong Dae and Jung Eun, who are placed at number seven in Mixed Doubles world rankings.
The Danish layers were fourth seeds in the tournament and they did not drop a single set in the whole in all of their matches.
They continued their impressive run in the final and bagged it in straight games by taking just 36 minutes in the court.
The third seeded Koreans could not put up strong resistance as they remained in all sorts of trouble and lost the match without showing an expected performance.
In the first game, Laybourn and Juhl started their run in an incredible way as they did not show any mercy to their higher ranked opponent and remained successful in dominating the pace of rallies.
On the other hand, Yong Dae and Jung Eun failed to produce better shots as they could not earn points and remained trailing far behind on the score board.
Until the end of first half, Laybourn and Juhl established a stunning lead against their higher ranked rivals as they reached at 11-1.
The Danish shuttlers continued their roller-coaster run in the concluding part of first set and won it with an impressive 21-9 score on the board.
In the second game, Laybourn and Juhl again took an early lead by playing positive and attacking badminton.
They did not spare any chance for the Koreans to dominate the pace of rallies. Until the break, Laybourn and Juhl were ahead at 11-7.
After the interval, the Danish duo remained on track by playing dominating badminton. They did not face any trouble and took the second game with a margin of 21-16.
Laybourn and Juhl ended the final contest in just 36 minutes with a comprehensive 21-9 and 21-16 score on the board.
