Thomas Levet without clubs, while Christian Cevaer to play after an injury at the Reale Seguros Open de España
Thomas Levet and Christian Cevaer are in the field of the Reale Seguros Open de España at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla in Seville, Spain, scheduled to start from May 3 to May 6, 2012.
The 43-year-old French golfer is in Spain these days, to play the sixth event on the European Tour. This is the second time he is playing European Tour event, without having his own golf clubs.
Last time he entered the field of the Ballantine's Championship without clubs. Now, he again continued and did not bring equipments with him.
He missed the cut in South Korea, after scoring 76 and 75 in the first two rounds. However, he did not lose his hope, as he later said that he is confident to lead at the upcoming Spanish Open.
Sources said that Levet plans to purchase clubs in Spain, and will tee off the tournament early on Thursday. Without having his own clubs may create hurdles for the French, as he will not be having knowledge and practise for the new clubs.
Another Frenchman, Christian Cevaer is also in the field of the Spanish Open. The two-time European Tour winner is injured and having an elbow pain. According to the details, he had an accident while playing the Sicilian Open in the end of March.
"I broke a bone in my elbow about 10 years ago so until the Sicilian Open it was fine and not causing me any concern," Cevaer said.
"But in hitting off the hard surface of the fairways I seemed to injury some tendons or something so I have been having the elbow iced regularly and I'm taking painkillers".
Due to an injury, he was forced to have a layoff, and did not perform at the Volvo China Open and Ballantine's Championship.
"I'm going to hit a few balls this afternoon to see how it is but at this stage I'm not 100 percent. I had wanted to play out in Asia for two events so it meant withdrawing but having won my first European Tour event here on this Seville course in 2004 I
really want to be playing this year".
He is returning after two weeks and will face tough rivals in the field, including Levet. Both the Frenchmen have not recorded good finishes in the current year.
One is looking forward to the Spanish Open without having clubs and the other is seeking to do his best after recovering from an injury.
