as Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 are arch-rivals.
The Bavarian giants won the clash convincingly with a 15-0 score line but the fan group kept holding the controversial banners and posters claiming that they will never accept the shot stopper in a Bayern shirt.
After the incident the club board also issued a statement n the club website claiming that any such act will be condemned and banned the group of supporters from Allianz Arena in the future.
Neuer’s teammate Thomas Muller defended the player and stated that the reaction from some of the fans was not good during the match. He urged the supporters to judge the player from his talent and not from the rivalry the two clubs
share. The midfielder also added that he know that most of the fans are excited to see him play for the club and that it’s only a small group that it creating the controversy.
“That's nice, I would not say. But I do not think he makes a big head because he knows that 98 or 99 percent of the Bayern fans are behind him, and secondly, the team is the most important thing, and because he has the full support,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
French international Franck Ribery also insisted that these banners and posters have disturbed the whole team as the club is a unit and if one player is under some problem the whole team suffers. He condemned any such act in the
future and urged the club officials to take notice.
“These banners are not good - they go against the whole team,” the former Olympique Marseille player said.
