The Bayern Munich midfielder has warned his side against any complacency ahead of a possible title decider against the Borussians next week.
Bayern Munich midfielder, Thomas Muller, has confirmed that the title race will down to the wire. He was talking in the wake of the Bayern-Dortmund clash on Wednesday, April 11, at the Signal Iduna Park. Muller mentioned that both
teams have equal chances of winning this season’s Bundesliga and Bayern will take each game as a final to ensure the title.
The attacker admitted that the Borussians have a slight advantage at this stage due to their three-point lead atop the league standings. He stated that the next week’s game will be a do-or-die scenario for both sides and whosoever
comes out on top will go on to win the competition.
Muller confirmed that Bayern will need to win each of their remaining six games in order to win the crown but warned his teammates against any complacency. He claimed that if the Munich giants are able to upstage the Black Yellows
at the Westfalenstadion, they certainly stand in with a chance.
While addressing Sport-Bild, the 22-year-old further added:
"Dortmund have shown in the Bundesliga that they can respond well when they are under pressure. Hence, the title fight is still a very close one. The game in Dortmund is crucial and that is our focus. But everything is in our hands.
If we win all our games, we will be champions."
On the other hand, the 2010 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner insisted that Bayern are used to playing thrice in a week and therefore will be able to cope with their hectic schedule. He opined that if the Reds carry their good
form in the future games, then they could also come out with a treble by the end of this campaign.
"In terms of recuperation [for the remainder of the season], the Dortmund game will put us at a disadvantage, But Bayern have shown in recent years that if we are on a run, the three-day cycle is not a disadvantage for us. We seized
our chances in 2010 and almost won a treble," Muller concluded.
Bayern will next be in action against FC Augsburg on Saturday, April 7, at the Allianz Arena before taking on Dortmund next week.
