The Gunners’ striker has been in sensational form, and the German midfielder believes his side will have to defend better against him.
Germany and Netherlands face each other in the sides’ second fixture of the ‘Group of death’. Die Mannschaft go into this fixture on the back of a hard fought 1-0 win against Portugal. Bert van Marwijk’s men, on the other hand,
lost their opening fixture against a decent Denmark side, which has put them under immense pressure.
The Oranje need to win this much anticipated clash against Joachim Low’s side, who have shown they are capable of grinding out results when it matters.
Ahead of the mouth watering clash, the Bayern Munich midfielder thinks the Dutch will be no pushovers. Muller is wary of Netherlands’ main threat Robin van Persie, who has been in sensational form, scoring 37 goals in 48 appearances
for the North London giants, Arsenal.
The German starlet calls for focus ahead of the encounter and asks his defenders to try and contain the Dutch forward.
"Netherlands have a good all-round team with top players in each position. We will work hard to limit their action,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The midfielder refused to dismiss Netherlands as favourites to win the tournament. He in turn heaped praise on the team, and labelled them as the second strongest team in the tournament, Spain being the first.
"Netherlands and Spain are strong teams and have done well in recent years, for me, they were one of the favourites to win the tournament,” he added.
Netherlands, on the other hand, have so far failed to demonstrate their footballing ability; the team has been in the news for wrong reasons, as reports of a dressing room revolt led by Rafael Van der Vaart are circulating.
Oranje will have to bring their shooting boots with them if they want to keep their hopes of reaching the knockouts alive. The game itself will be a treat to watch as both sides will go for the kill. Die Mannschaft will relish
the chance of knocking out their bitter rivals and will try not get complacent after their win against Portugal.
