The Bavarian midfielder is targeting a treble this season and wants Bayern to become the first side to play the UEFA Champions League final at home.
Bayern Munich have had a fantastic season thus far and are a side in complete contrast to last season. They have so far managed to remain ahead of rivals, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke in the league.
After having a difficult first season with Bayern, Muller has been a first-team regular ever since. The player won the ‘Best Young Player’ and the Golden Boot award at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The midfielder c*m winger wants to lead Bayern to the Bundesliga crown and the German Cup at the end of this term. Apart from the two trophies, the 22-year-old also hopes to do well the UEFA Champions League. Bayern qualified for
the Knock-out stages of the competition by finishing atop their Group-A, and will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the first-leg on Wednesday, February 22.
While talking exclusively to Goal.com, the youngster further mentioned:
“At FC Bayern the Bundesliga title is always the first priority. Besides that, we want to reach the German Cup final in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 as it is a great experience. And then there is the dream of playing the Champions League final at home
in May 2012.”
Muller has high hopes of making it to the finals of the Champions League, and become the first team to play the final at their home ground. The German international admitted that the road to the final will be difficult, but is
confident of achieving the feat, banking on the team’s current form.
“No team has ever achieved this, so we hope to be the first. But that will be a rocky ride until then. And also we are travelling to the 2012 European Championships not to finish third, but win the title.” Muller concluded.
Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga standings with 37 points, three points clear of the second and third placed, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke. Once the winter break expires, the Reds will play Borussia Monchengladbach
on Friday, January 20, at the Borussia Park.
