The Bayern Munich attacker has expressed his anger on losing the top spot to Borussia Dortmund after dropping points at Imtech Arena.
Bayern Munich and Hamburg SV shared the spoils at Imtech Arena this Saturday as the Munich giants lost their lead at the top. Jupp Heynckes’ side was unable to secure three points in the game and now stand in second place, two
points behind the reigning German champions.
Jacopo Sala scored for the home side in the first-half whereas out-of-favour striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ivica-Olic-c17399 found the net after the interval to give the visitors a point.
Muller claimed that a win against Rothosen was very important as Bayern had to maintain their lead at the top but the performance was way below par. He admitted that his side was lucky to get a point from the game as they did not
deserve it.
The midfielder insisted that the draw is frustrating for the team as dropping any points at this point of the season when you are leading the table is suicidal. He rued missed chances throughout the course of 90 minutes and admitted
his team was unlucky.
“When you are at FC Bayern, you have always got to win. Especially when you want to win the league, you have got to win a lot of matches. That is why this draw really annoys me because it was a game which had a lot more in it for
us. It just disappoints you, angers you, but at the same time, you cannot say we played a bad game,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes admitted that his side needs to step up in the future games to remain on the heels of Dortmund. He called for improvement in the remaining course of the season and is confident of
a successful campaign ahead.
“I cannot criticise the players at all. We played very well, especially in the first half, but FC Bayern have greater, more extreme demands and that is why we are not happy,” he concluded.
Bayern will next face FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga on Saturday, February 11.
