The Bayern Munich midfielder has insisted that his side is well capable of downing the Spanish giants in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.
The Bavarian giants will take on Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, April 17. The Germans will be looking to gain a first-leg advantage over their Spanish rivals to make sure they have something to play
for in the return leg.
Muller, who has been in inspiring form over the last few weeks, insisted that Bayern are well capable of getting the better of Real Madrid in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. The player claimed that even though the
team has lost the fight for the Bundesliga, Bayern can still win the Champions League and the German cup.
The midfielder added that the players will give their all to reach the final, which will be played at the Allianz Arena, and is confident of a spirited performance from the team. He admitted that the team needs the backing of the
fans and stressed that a win in the first-leg would be vital.
“We'll dig deep into our reserves and fight with all we've got for the Champions League and the cup. We’ll have no problem getting motivated for Tuesday. We'll give everything for a place in the final. To the limit and beyond,
but with the fans behind us, we can do it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Bayern sporting director Christian Nerlinger also stressed on the importance of the game against Real Madrid and conceded the team’s chances of winning the Bundesliga at the end of the season. He admitted that
the team will look forward to win the Champions League and the German cup to ensure a successful campaign.
“We now have to concentrate on Tuesday. Our focus now is on Europe and the DFB Cup,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich got the better of French side Olympique Marseille in the quarter-final of the competition whereas Real Madrid downed APOEL Nicosia 8-2 on aggregate to reach the last four in Europe.
