The Bayern Munich attacker claims that he prefers to play behind the striker as that is his natural position.
Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Thomas Muller has insisted that he favours to play in the role of a second striker for both club and country. He claimed that in that position he has more shooting opportunities and has more chances
of scoring. The player admitted that he is not a natural winger and does not have the capability of taking on players in wide positions but stated that he can play anywhere to help the team.
The German international played behind the striker last season and scored an impressive 19 times in all competitions but he has been shifted to the right wing in this campaign and has found the net on four occasions only.
“I'm a little more at home in the hole behind the front man. I get more shots away, and I'm closer to goal. Also, I'm more of a passing player, and not a typical winger capable of beating three men. However, I have no problem playing
out wide. I'll always do what's best for the team,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bayern Munich’s official website.
Muller, who is another player from the club’s youth ranks, is confident that Bayern Munich can win the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season. He admitted that the team can reach the final in Munich as they have the quality
and the potential to lift the trophy.
However, he admitted that the feat would not be easy as there are some great teams in the competition which include the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
“Two years ago, we demonstrated we have the potential to make it. And we all know it's happened before: two years after losing a final, Bayern came back and won it. I'm realistic enough to admit it'll be the most difficult trophy
to win,” he concluded.
Thomas Muller has so far played 89 Bundesliga games for the Munich giants and has scored 27 times in the process. The player also has 25 international caps to his name, scoring 10 times.
